Is this for kids or adults – it’s a tough call. The latest hi-tech toys from Hammacher is a 500 foot flying rocket with USB digital camera. If you can’t make it into this seasons Super Bowl – it is a good alternative – albeit with some serious security issues.
The Estes rocket is designed to keep the digital camera always aimed towards the ground during flight. You can get up to 3 shots per flight or record 12 seconds of live video (640×480 res). The on board USB port and included cable make download of pictures or video quick and easy.
No this isn’t me; and my office doesn’t look like this. Not unless GetUSB came to life and ran me out of house and home.
Frank’s Cubicle is not a demo room, but an absolute time killer (in a good way). So if your boss stepped out and you have some time check out Frank’s Cubicle.
On a more serious note, the USB Implementers Forum runs the site and Frank’s Cubicle is a tribute to all the gadgets we’ve come accustomed to love.
The USB Implementers Forum drives certification testing and logo awareness for Hi-Speed USB, Hi-Speed USB On-The-GO and Wireless USB technologies. We developed Frank’s Cubicle to show the ubiquity and proliferation of the most successful interconnect technology in the world, with more than 2 billion implementations to date. Today consumers demand interoperability and ease-of-use. I’d like to think the USB technology has those benefits mastered. Now when consumers think USB we’d like them to remember the associated brands.
The latest technology we are supporting is Wireless USB, in which the first five certified products were introduced a few weeks ago from Lenovo, Dell, IOGEAR and D-Link. Set to perform like USB 2.0 sans the cables. Consumers can expect to see more products arrive on the retail shelves before the holiday season.
A company called Suck UK is about to launch this UFD cleverly disguised as a cassette tape. Nothing more than some creative packaging. So why am I writing about this? Because the other products on their website are absolutely classic for a good laugh. Such as Suck UK’s Smoking Mittens, Razorblade Mirror, Cardboard Mini Arcade and the list wouldn’t be complete without the Emergency Money Box. More fun stuff, check them out.
As for the USB stick in a cassette box, it’s available end of September and sizes are yet to be announced. If by chance you have a library of cassette tapes needing to be digitized than check out our post from the other day on a USB Cassette Archiver.
Update: The Tengu is now available from ThinkGeek for only $45ish.
SolidAlliance might be on to something with their USB Tengu, self talking USB gadget. At the size of a cigarette box this guy comes to life upon USB connection. The LEDs turn bright red into a friendly face, then reacts to music and sound – ideal for those looking for anonymity and in need of a front man (Jeffrey Skilling could have used this a couple years ago).
Not on sale yet – but will be in Japan mid August. Price tag – about $40USD. Now Available! YouTube video below will make you laugh, worth the look – if you have IE6 click here.
The Tengu is now available from ThinkGeek for only $45ish so shut down that YouTube video and click over to grab your Tengu today. After all, everyone needs a front man.
…fragrance oil that is. USBGeek rolled out their latest USB gadget, the fragrance USB drive, at just $7.00. Right on the heels of the fruitful USB drive the USBGeek version comes in two distinct aromas. Red Rose and Peppermint Green. No word on the longevity of the aroma and you’ll need a steady hand for application.
If the USB A$$ Blower didn’t satisfy your need for fresh air then maybe a more subtle approach is needed…a more politically correct way of freshening up your office space. How about fresh fruit straight from a flash drive?
The crazy UFDs coming out these days are a stretch to grab marketing share; however I for one believe putting a little fresh-n-fruity smell into the air is a great idea. As not to leave any one preference out of mind, select from orange, strawberry, grape and apple. But you probably figured that out from the picture.
This is a pre-launch announcement from Microdia as the drives are not yet available. But they are expected to generate fruitful results.

Now here is a total waste of USB space, yet something which is totally cool…well…that is if you are 8.
SolidAlliance has yet out done themselves again with the pop-up pirate USB hub.
Everyone can use a virtual friend, and what better friend could one have than a USB buddy.
Okay, so you probably don’t need a virtual friend, but for those who work from the home office, extreme introverts or Harry Potter fantasy freaks (Disney too) you can get this USB virtual friend and pre-progam over 100 says to keep yourself entertained.
With embedded infrared motion sensors your virtual buddy will always know when you’ve arrived or when you’re leaving. The set of USB buddies will run about $30 or specific gender for $17.
Funny how things happen. I just got off a forum page reading up on how much folks hate Blue LED lights and here comes Brando with a product update email to include this “I Love You” LED laptop light.
I use a Compaq LED laptop light from time to time and it only has two white LEDs and I’ll tell you that one more would be nice. Just a little more light would be perfect and I’d probably use the USB gadget that much more.
So, although not a great fit for the Techie guy, maybe a good gift for the Techie girl. At just $9 it’s a good addition to your iTunes gift card to ‘that’ girl friend.
I definitely could have used a USB stress button today. My cable service was down all day so jumping on the internet didn’t happen for most the afternoon. For someone like me, that’s a LONG time. I guarantee this USB stress button would be broken.
Brando, maker of all things USB, now has a USB stress button which strides to reduce your blood-pressure via a bright red target button to slam down upon when you’re stressed. To put some creativity into an otherwise boring product, Brando incorporates three modes; crack open an Excel spreadsheet (um, no good for me), boss punch out (again no good as I am the boss) or simulated bomb explosion – now we’re talk’in.
Now this truly is a USB powered gadget. Earlier this week SolidAlliance introduced the USB engine hub. Based off a two liter motorcycle engine the USB hub houses 3 USB ports and takes up quite-a-bit of space.
Two things are crazy about this. One, the USB engine hub makes noise, a lot of noise. The non-soothing sounds begin with; starter, gear shift and rev-engine sounds. Two, the president of SolidAlliance predicts this novelty gadget will become their best selling product. Well, that isn’t much of a stretch considering SolidAlliance is best known for Sushi flash drives.
If you need a USB hub and need to be heard, get the USB engine for only $43 USD. SolidAlliance ships globally.

Lets take a look at the first of two USB powered gadgets for today. The USB Frog Massager is everything short of feature rich. Push the frog eyes and the little bugger goes to work on massaging those sore muscles for back, shoulders, arms and legs. I doubt you’ll get a Prince with a kiss but for those desperate geeky gals – you can give it a try.
