Administator for GetUSB.info
GetUSB.info started in 2004 with the concept of providing USB information for everything USB related. At the time, USB was gaining momentum and every day new products, articles and news became published. Today, the site is focused on bringing technical information, tricks and hacks to USB related products. The site does publish off topic information as well, to keep the variety up. Please visit the footer area of any page if you or your company is interested in article or product placement via purchased advertising.
Lets bring you some USB Fever in the form of smallest USB charger, USB VGA adapter and iPhone power cradle. Lets start with the world’s smallest USB charger. The idea is very simple: embed a USB connector inside a power plug. No LED for complete charge but the device is intelligent and turn off when a charge is complete.
So what size makes up the world’s smallest USB charger? How about 7cm tall.

Next up is this slick USB to VGA adapter. Although we are seeing more USB monitors these days, it’s safe to say most monitors our there still have VGA connectivity. Well, as you make the transition, this easy to use, plug and play adapter will aid in the process.

Well, it’s probably a good idea to vaccine your dog too, but today we can apply that term to something new, USB drives.
LG Electronics launched a Vaccine USB drive equipped with anti virus and malware protection software. Appartently the first of it’s kind.
The Vaccine USB protects the UFD in real-time during operation. There is a built-in autorun feature which constantly monitors data being transferred on the UFD device. The Vaccine USB monitors both

No, I’m not a “player” but the iPlayer is a nice piece of technology for cocktail conversations. The iPlayer is a standalone video player which can run content from a number of different flash media cards or USB drives. In addition, the iPlayer may be connected to either your TV or monitor.
The iPlayer has the ability to quickly and easily share photos, music and movies on your TV or monitor.
Sure, for the home user this might not be the ideal USB gadget for viewing your favorite content, BUT if you are running a business and doing trade shows the iPlayer is clearly worth a second look. The iPlayer makes it easy to set up a video displays without needing a PC or TV. With the combination of the iPlayer and monitor (flat screen I’d assume) you could have a slick looking trade show presentation in little time.

Transcend has built a great name for themselves with the Jetflash UFD product line. It’s been tested as one of the fastest drives on the market, simple designs which are small and compact.
The new Transcend Jetflash V33 is no exception. At just 60 x 16 x 8 mm in size and 7g of weight the 1 through 8GB size would hardly let you know they are there.
As with all Jetflash UFDs you have the option of downloading the Jetflash Elite software package for personal UFD management. The software suite includes:

Here is a fun way for you boss types to get a grip on productivity all the while making the work place fun. Enter the USB exercise mouse. With this – far from Mickey looking – USB mouse you can view how many words a minute an employee types. Or more appropriately a good keylogger for the kids on monitoring type skills. Although a better fit these days might be for text messaging.
The USB exercise mouse is [about] $25 and available for delivery.

Here we see a Hershey’s bar style USB dock station which is great on creativity but short on functionality.
Judging from the picture it’s hard to determine what the LCD display is for as without an internal processor of some sort there is now way to parallel the drives or sort through the data which resides on them.
Now the modular look of the device is interesting and IF you could strip together the drives for a modular type hard drive there might be a buyer out there…somewhere. Even in that instance sharing data on multiple devices would prove useless if one of the UFDs was removed.
SO, given the concept design is seems nothing more extravagant than a USB hub with customized UFDs.

On the heels of USB missile launcher with webcam we have the Wireless USB Missile Launcher from Dream Cheeky.
I’m not sure how much value the wireless missile launcher brings to the table, other than distancing yourself another 15 feet from the firing source, the webcam version with MSN software controls seems a little better.
None-the-less, if your boss doesn’t allow Instant Message software on your PC then roll in the Wireless USB Missile Launcher. At 15 feet distance, it would be easy enough to hide it behind a plant and fire “at will” from an office down the hall.
Albeit a direct hit on the forehead of your boss would be funny enough, I don’t think

Dream Cheeky has carved out a name for themselves with the USB missile launcher and USB circus cannon. Recently the bloggisphere reported on the updated version: USB missile launcher with webcam.
Dream Cheeky partnered with Microsoft on this one and integrated the webcam and control of the robotics through MSN instant messenger. For that reason, it’s called the USB MSN Missile Launcher.
This added user experience lets a remote person view and control the missile launcher to pelt the enemy during a moment of weakness. I reviewed the USB Circus Cannon a while back, and if the webcam version is as loud as the circus cannon version, there is no chance of a surprise attack.
The launcher comes with a detachable video camera and

GetUSB.info reported on the USB Engine Hub back in June ’07 from SolidAlliance and we scratched our heads on the reason why. Well the product is real (which we didn’t doubt) and below is a short clip of what the USB engine hub can do.
What we didn’t report on…or didn’t know at the time…is the USB engine also vibrates during operation. What is comical about this, and you’ll see it in the video, is the USB hub vibrates enough it could easily fall off your desk. So your USB hub could end up pushing your $1,500 DSL camera off the desk and onto the floor. Makes total sense.

Luigi of I4U had some time yesterday to review the PNY IronKey USB 4GB UFD. In short it’s a great security device but you give up performance for such security.
The PNY IronKey uses AES encryption which is always on and keys generated by the on-board cryptochip uses FIPS 140-2 true compliant random number generation. Since the IronKey uses the cryptochip the keys used to generate access never leave the UFD (and onto computer).
The PNY IronKey has an on board stealth browser via Firefox and is entirely incased with a water tight sealant which sits underneath the rugged, outside enclosure.

I lived through the dot com bust back in the late 90’s and now the internet is buzzing again with Social Media and Social Network sites as our next big cash cow. Even the buzz about Blogging has gotten a little out-of-hand. Today I found a nice YouTube video spoofing the social network bubble and whether it’ll burst as quickly as the dot com days.
