Our Answer to a Smartphone / Tablet Dock Charging Station

With the iPhone in its 8th iteration of the product and most likely you have some older models laying around. Those older models can be put to use, but chances are, you don’t keep them charged up. So after a couple of days without connection, they are dead. I currently use an older iPhone to stream my music at work. I don’t stream from my phone, because I always seem to get disconnect to the Bluetooth speakers after I take a call. USB charge dock station This is why I like the 10 port charging station from USBFever. It’s got a logical design for holding ten devices. With the USB ports on the bottom, it keeps the plugs from hanging off the wall. Just above the USB ports are hollow channels you can bundle up the USB cable and stash it away. On top are vertical channels to hold your iPhone, iPad, Smartphone or tablet. The vertical channels are tall enough the devices will sit sturdy and proper. Finally, the design includes a good balance of power output for the devices. There are a total of 10 USB ports. Eight of which push out a 2.5amp power supply and the remaining two are 1amp. This means the charging dock station will power the tablets as well as the larger iPhone and Samsung product while you can leave the smaller phones to the 1amp channels. Dream Cable: iPhone, microUSB And miniUSB All In One

I’m sure we all have our own definition of an ideal cable, meaning a cable which connects to more then one device. For me, the new 3-in-1 cable from USB Fever is it. The 3-in-1 cable works with any iPhone or iPad type product, any device using a microUSB connector or any device which uses miniUSB connector. What is great about this cable is that three different connectors are seamlessly integrated with the end part of the cable. You do not see three wires splitting off for different connectors. All in-line, tight and organized. Here take a look: In addition the iPhone 3-in-1 cable is tethered to a retractable assembly to pull the wires in when not in use. For me, all of the above is ideal because I have one station at home which charges my kids DS, my iPhone and my Nikon point-n-shoot camera. Now I can power all three with only one cable. USB Solar Hub – So Close To What We Need

Yesterday we spoke about Elcom introducing a USB power strip and today we have USB Fever with a  solar powered USB hub.  We where very excited to hear about this product -  as it seems to be a step up from the introduction from yesterday, and it’s got some great features, but unfortunately, the solar power charging system isn’t for the USB devices which are connected, but rather the built-in LED torch light [insert sad face here].

USB solar charge Hub

I understand it would take a fairly big solar panel to correctly power 4-5 devices connected to a USB hub, but it would be nice to see a trickle charge feature for anything connected.  Like I said yesterday, in our house we have 3 iPhones, a Flip Video camera, two blue-tooth headsets and some other stuff, so a solar powered trickle charging USB hub would be nice. USB Lego Style 4 Port Hub

It seems that kids these days are simply born with the jeans to run computers.  I know of 7 year old kids doing Power Point presentations already!  They have incorporated YouTube videos, slides with more animation then what I’ve ever done and all before the 4th grade.  Impressive. On that note, it’s worth making their computer environment a bit fun.  With USB keyboards, USB mouse, flash drives, digital cameras, iPhones etc, it’s required to have a USB hub, even at the kids computer.  So why not get them a fun looking Lego USB hub?

lego usb hub

USB Fever now carries these 4 port USB hubs for just $12 USDs.  It’s a USB gadget they need, in a fun familiar form factor they recognize. It would be very cool if the USB Lego hub would stack, but with a flat bottom, it doesn’t.  Shame. In case you are color blind and can’t see the different colors available in the picture, you can purchase red, black, yellow or blue 4 port Lego hubs. Continue Reading

USB IceBox by Windows

The Windows IceBox is an interesting little tool.  It’s a software program which runs from a USB stick that locks down partitions on your hard drive.  The concept is that you lock down partitions on your hard drive so that other users, like your kids, don’t get in there and start accidentally deleting important files, registry entries, uninstalling software, etc.

USB Windows IceBox

The USB Windows IceBox includes recovery software for your hard drive and has the ability to block virus software or malware programs from getting into your computer. From my perspective, it’s a nice little tool, but if you have the smarts to partition up your hard drive, you probably have the smarts to create multiple users as well.  See the USB Windows IceBox will lock down your partitions when you walk away [certain amount of idle time] but you can do the same thing with User Login priveleges.  Just don’t give your kids Continue Reading

USB Hard Drive Case With Biometric Encryption

So here is a sweet little deal I stumbled upon at USBFever.  For $27 you can get a USB hard drive case with biometric fingerprint encryption scanner.

USB hard drive biometrics

Given how cheap USB hard drives are these days, it’s easy to have them become your backup device of choice.  Well, if you’re like me, chances are you are backing up the QuickBooks or MAS90 accounting programs which need a bit more security.  It would be bad enough to lose your portable hard drive, so at least protect it with your fingerprint. The USB hard drive case with biometric encryption supports the IDE / USB 2.5″ hard drive sizes along with plug & play insertion and removal. The fingerprint biometrics supports all Windows platforms, but not Mac.  So if you’re about to drop $15-$20 for an external case, pay just a couple bucks more and get the USB encrypted version. USB Snake Video Borescope – View What You’ve Never Wanted to View

The new USB video borescope from USBFever gives you the chance to check things out that you’ve never wanted to see.  Ok maybe that’s a bit odious [and suggestive], but the option is available considering the water resistant camera head and tube.

usb borescope

The USB borescope has a 300k digital camera on the front end, plus a nice accessory magnetic kit for the tip.  Now it’s easier than ever to find your keys lost behind the couch. Two white LED lights are positioned at the apex to illuminate those dark holes or areas.

What is especially cool about the USB borescope is the ability for taking pictures or live video.  With the video option you can take those YouTube clips to the next level. The USB snake scope retails for $64 + a couple bucks shipping. Product Page here. Continue Reading
