Sony is definitely not a team player when it comes to formats and building a universal base for outside development [Betamax and Memory Stick to name a few] but Sony did make a small step in the right direction with their Marine CD Receivers.
The Sony Marine CD Receiver is a wired remote which allows connection via USB from iPods or iPhones for digital music playback.
The Sony Marine uses a powerful navigation dial system to weed through your extensive audio collection or you can use the connected device itself to select your song of choice.
The Sony Marine is comprised of two units with remote connecting via USB. The main unit, like a typical stereo and the RM-X60M remote to control your stereo, well remotely. Both head units share DM+ technology that enhances the sound quality of compressed audio files such as supported MP3 and non-DRM WMA and AAC formats.
The remote will be priced at $130 when it ships, and the CDX-H910UI marine receiver priced at about $350. Nothing for a boat is cheap. After all doesn’t B.O.A.T. mean Bust out Another Thousand?

SEH launched a mini USB server designed to secure USB peripherals over fiber optic and Ethernet networks. What the myUTN USB Server does is allow connection of a USB device into your fiber optics network or Ethernet network without needing additional USB cables or drivers. Imagine plugging in your printer or scanner into a fiber optic port on the wall rather than a traditional USB port of your computer. In addition, the myUTN USB Server provides top-level security so data being transmitted over the network wont be compromised. A good example is connecting a USB bar code scanner for products or medical devices to the network with ease and security.

I was so excited to get the new telescope lens for the 3G iPhone, but at the same time, apprehensive that it would be a gimmick. I was thrilled to find out the telescope lens actually worked! The case used to mount the lens also snaps On and Off quite easily.
Using the case without the lens is a great way to add some protection to the iPhone, but when using a dock station, you’ll need to remove the case. The lens screws on and off so you can fit this inside your travel pack and take it out when you need it. Obviously you won’t leave the lens on while cruising around town.It doesn’t come with a lens cover which is fine for me, but considering it’s stored more than used, especially if you are planning to be mobile, it would be nice to have something so the lens doesn’t accidentally scratch. For me, a zip-lock bag works fine.
I took some photos around the house. Just like a real zoom camera lens, you have

I love this thing…It’s exactly what I wanted. I did not want to purchase a different charger for every device I have and my bluetooth speakerphone adapter and both cell phones are all charged via USB cable so now I can charge all three of them through the USBFever 4 port USB car charger and adapter.
I don’t think I’ll ever use all four at once but knowing that you can is empowering (pardon my pun) After a trip to Sea World, my iPhone 3G was just about depleted (no surprise about the short battery life – but I wouldn’t trade it for any other phone, in fact, I’m slowing transitioning from Windows to Mac for my personal computer as I’m not playing FPS games anymore and the Vista Operating System turned into a huge let down for me).
So I decided to set the iPhone stop watch and take some screenshots by pressing

I’m a big Blackberry fan and yesterday I received a notice in the mail for the long awaited touchscreen Blackberry. It’s finally making the grand enterance. Coming out in about 1 month is the Blackberry Storm. This new touchscreen is a direct competitor to the iPhone and a nice addition to the RIM product lineup. After all, they’ve been behind for about 1 year.
The Blackberry Storm will be offered by Verizon in the US, has four front panel buttons and is powered by USB. For me, I like the four button navigation and sleek look of the Storm. What I’m a little concerned about is the touchscreen typing. I’m afraid nothing will compare to the Quirky keyboard I currently use on my World Edition. I’ve tried the iPhone and it’s a nightmare, I’m hoping the Storm will be a little better.
I couldn’t dig some details such as price and whether the Storm has a camera or not. The image shown had some criticism that it was photochopped, but it looks identical to the official Verizon notice I received yesterday.

Interactive motion control games are definitely at the top of most kid’s lists.  The Wii was so popular we’ve got blogs about it, and last Christmas it was THE gift to give. This year, another motion control game piece might be the hot ticket. Actiga is announcing a full line of mini-motion controllers for gaming this fall. Below is a picture of those hard-to-get finger skateboards, mounted on a pivot ball and connects via USB.
USB controllers will be available for both Mac and PC systems in versions that look like realistic skateboards, RC Cars, baseball, and a futuristic racing vehicle. Each of the controllers will connect via USB and will sell for $19.99. It’s not clear if the controller has games built-in like the plug-and-play devices for TV or if they are simply controllers to be used with other PC games already on the market.
The USB finger skateboard would be an ideal controller stick for your kids favorite skateboard game.

It all boils down to where you connect the magnets. For the most part this magnetic USB hub is best designed to work with office furniture, cabinets and the like. Probably not the best idea to set it on the computer chassis – although it wouldn’t do too much harm.
The idea behind USBFever’s magnetic hub is convenience. Place it where you need it. There are three magnets on the underside of the 4 port hub with enough strength to hold any combination of USB cables and flash drives in place.
The 4 port USB magnetic hub will only set you back 14 USD plus a couple bucks in shipping.Available via USBFever.

Here is an excellent example for the term “useless USB gadget,” the USB volcano. The USB volcano is comprised of a plastic shaped volcano which blows red plastic bubbles out from the center after you’ve filled up the jar with water.
This isn’t the first time we’ve reported on the World’s largest USB flash drive as that bar continues to rise.
Yesterday [Sep 23, 2008] Transcend announced their newest V20 drive is available at 64GBs. That’s as big as my laptop from 10 years ago. Now it’s the size of my thumb. I put the date in here to so we can reflect back in another 5 years and laugh.
The V20 Transcend includes their value add JetFlash elite data management suite which includes:Â Software that turns the V20 into a key to automatically log on to website accounts, or even temporarily lock the computer to prevent unauthorized access. Users can also browse their favorite bookmarked websites and check their email from any compatible computer with the included internet favorites and mobile email functions.
Even though Readyboost never really caught on, the drive has been thoroughly tested for it’s official support.

There are some things in this world I just don’t get. Like the idea that space has no end, or how strong a little ant can be…or why someone would make a USB cabbage flash drive.
The only explanation I can drum up, is a food emporium having an expo and some [out of touch person] thought it would be fun to make flash storage in the shape of cabbage leaves. Strange.
Yep, you heard it right. Imation, from my understanding, is the first to offer a USB hard drive that is completely wireless. Well, expect for the power cord.
The Imation Apollo Pro WX is the wireless hard drive with speeds close to that of wired speeds. Since the product isn’t yet available, we’ll need to wait for real-world results, but I’m keeping an optimistic outlook. Mostly because I REALLY want one.
The Apollo Pro WX will use Seagate hard drives and will come in a variety of sizes with a maximum capacity of 1.5TBs. The wireless hard drive solution has a total range of about 30 feet. Meaning your hard drive can sit, by itself, up to 30 feet away from computers and read/write data as though you had a direct connect hard drive. Talk about conveninece, this is it!
Since USB wireless isn’t available on all computers, the Imation wireless hard drive will still come with an available USB port and cable for those who haven’t made the switch.
Along with no price tag, Imation is also vague about release date, just sometime in the fall.
