Transcend has built a great name for themselves with the Jetflash UFD product line. It’s been tested as one of the fastest drives on the market, simple designs which are small and compact.
The new Transcend Jetflash V33 is no exception. At just 60 x 16 x 8 mm in size and 7g of weight the 1 through 8GB size would hardly let you know they are there.
Olinari doesn’t work with silver spoons, but rather silver dog tags. These plush sterling silver dog tags hold your K9 info in a Sony Micro Vault USB drive. The hand made pieces are anything short of cheap. Now it’s just a matter of wanting to place a $350 dog tag around the puppies head to only be drug through the mud, sh!t and food bowl.
But don’t let my sarcasm stop you short of checking out these beauties…I understand the love an owner has for their dog. And albeit these USB dog tags mean you’ll probably get the dog back, but not the tag, shouldn’t stop you from putting return-to-owner on USB.

It’s called a USB rechargeable clip torch but I’m not sold on the term torch…sound like something needs to go up in flames. Rather, the rechargeable clip light uses a USB port on the back-end for juicing up during down time.
The convenient and portable LED light comes with a couple different clips so attachment can be made virtually anywhere. At just $14 the rechargeable light also affordable for just about anyone. The LED light portion and USB connect portion do rotate a full 180 so it’s fairly easy to get optimal positioning…as with this book clip light illustration.
I’m not a big fan of CDs (more of a USB fan) but there are definitely times a CD or DVD is exactly what I need. I’m not a big fan of markers as CD labels either, or sticker labels for that matter. That’s why I’m very interested to bring to you the Casio USB CD thermal printer.
With quick connect via USB, 200 dpi resolution and various ribbon colors to get the exact look I’m a big fan of the Casio CD printer (CW-E60). Throw in the price tag of just $60 and call it a done deal.Casio labeling software does support the true type fonts so whatever Windows fonts you have, English or otherwise, will print like a charm on this jem. And for the road worrior the CD thermal printer has a eight AA battery option.

Buffalo just put the call to action for SanDisk, Western Digital and the like for the world’s largest portable hard drive, the MiniStation.
I’m a big fan of portability. I’m a big fan of storage space. And I’m going to need to get some serious work-on to fill up the 300GB hard drive in addition to my standard 120GB HHD of my laptop. Not to say, I wouldn’t turn down some extra space.
The Buffalo USB MiniStation (HD-PS320U2) is just over $300 and comes with Buffalo’s 256-bit AES encryption security software and Memeo’s autobackup utility. After all, out of 300GBs there has got to be something worth saving.

ZaNa Design is looking to raise the bar for classy looking flash drives. Sure we’ve seen UFDs made of wood, but not like this.

Okay, so this post is off topic of USB gadgets, but worth a mention in my book. I have just published another website which is a simple RSS filter or feed filter. True, there are other services out there, but I never liked the login and password concept for free services. The new RSS filter from FilterMyRSS is simple just get in there, filter and go.
There are some nice features as well. For example you can view a feed before the RSS filter and after the RSS filter. I believe this is valuable because it insures you the process is working. I’ve noticed other RSS filter services republish the feed with a unique ID number so you never know exactly what’s going on.The feed filter also allows you to filter only on specific areas of feed content. There are three areas to filter: Title, Description and Category.

Recently the head of marketing for SanDisk, Dror Todress, made a claim where “there are endless examples of data breaches…” then immediately sites an example of a stolen US Army UFD (USB Flash Drive) being purchased from a reporter just 200 yards from an army base in Afghanistan.
Todress goes on to explain most IT managers understand and are aware of such security risks and most employees who bring in USB drives or MP3 players with mass storage capability do not have malicious intentions. However, this doesn’t mean valuable information IS leaving the building.
Considering between 80% – 90% of UFDs do not have encryption software, I thought to browse back through my USB Security category and list out a couple articles which could be of help.
