Administator for GetUSB.info
GetUSB.info started in 2004 with the concept of providing USB information for everything USB related. At the time, USB was gaining momentum and every day new products, articles and news became published. Today, the site is focused on bringing technical information, tricks and hacks to USB related products. The site does publish off topic information as well, to keep the variety up. Please visit the footer area of any page if you or your company is interested in article or product placement via purchased advertising.
Wish I had the talent and I wish I had the time. Steampunk seems like a very cool way to take any product and turn it into something outstanding. Take this Steampunk USB mouse for example.
Some Russian modd’er put in some serious hours making this Steampunk probably one of the best we’ve seen. Right down to the brass wear on the USB connector and cloth material used for the cord. Well done.
It seems the mouse itself was shaped into a tank link design with cannons on the top left and right, hatch on the top and oval brass pieces on the side for tread. I don’t know if this is what the modder was going for, but the Steampunk mouse seems to resemble it.
As with all Steampunk gear, this one’s not for sale or in production, it’s just a nice piece of hardware which drools craftsmanship and time suckage.

For obvious reasons we aren’t the biggest Bluetooth fans but more of a WUSB fan, never-the-less we do stumble into very cool products with Bluetooth technology. Take this Estilo Carrera GT Porshce Bluetooth mouse from Brando.
The Estilo GT mouse is extremely cool looking and the ideal gadget gift for that Porsche loving greek friend. The Bluetooth dongle sits in the rear trunk of the wireless mouse with left and right clickers along with scroll mouse on the hood.
I guess you could make the argument that some fellow “over seas” chopped up the Estilo design and did the world a disfavor by creating a Porsche mouse, but if that’s you…get a life…it’s a cool looking mouse.
The Estilo GT Bluetooth Mouse is $38 and $55 with tiny USB Bluetooth V2.0+EDR adapter (see I knew we’d fit in USB somewhere)

GetUSB has mentioned before about a fellow blogger and friend who’s started a baby birth announcements company which specializes in poster style movie trailer themes. It’s a very creative way to let the world know about your new born. Well, he’s twisted the product offering once again, with DVD birth announcements.
Business has gone very well and with Movie Trailer Birth Announcements as the next big thing, everyone will want a movie trailer of their new born. To kick things off – and since June and July are the most popular months for baby births – he decided to offer up a coupon for those in need. You can get DVD birth announcements for less with the GetUSBinfo discount coupon. The coupon is a 20% discount for a movie trailer styled video.
The video production, layout and delivery is just amazing – actually riveting. Click the screen shot I took below to view a demo:
Gotta admit – it’s great looking stuff and a mind-blower for the grandparents, friends and family. It’s a keepsake everyone will cherish. Besides, a snap shot of your baby stuffed inside a Hallmark card is so 80’s.
Get a DVD or you can sign up for the video to be hosted on their server.Get with the times, get a Movie Trailer Birth Announcement. Get it for 20% less. Simply type in “GETUSBINFO20” upon checkout to receive the 20% off discount [all caps please]. The coupon expires Oct 31, 2008.

MLB is going hi-tech with their SportsLive USB wristband. The product is a USB drive in the shape of a wristband where the MLB association data loads memorable baseball broadcasts for eternal enjoyment. These exclusive audio and video records will be distributed through MLB.com and eventually local vendors at the stadiums.
There will be a couple of SportsLive wristbands up for purchase during the All-Star week on MLB.com, where one of them features the broadcast of the Farm Home Run Derby while the other will store a broadcast of the All-Star Game and pre-game ceremony. Included in both is a two-hour MLB Productions documentary entitled “Yankees Stadium: Baseball’s Cathedral,” some desktop wallpapers and ringtones for your phone.
Today’s fans want to consume content when and where they want, across screens large and small,” says Elizabeth Scott, vice president of programming and business affairs for Major League Baseball. “We’re thrilled to make such a versatile product, which includes a complete game broadcast, available as a truly efficient consumer experience. It is fitting that in this final year of Yankee Stadium, fans will be able to own a piece of history after attending these momentous All-Star events.
The SportsLive USB wristband includes a microSD card reader so the device gives you 2GBs of data storage on the wristband and unlimited storage through removable microSD.

Not every work station is ideal. In fact, most people probably have a desk area overloaded with paper, USB gadgets and family photos, so this portable arm-rest comes in very handy.
Although it’s not a USB gadget, the arm-rest could be an invaluable tool to help fight Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or fatigue from your arm, elbow and shoulders.
Even as I type this article, my elbow is hanging off the side of the desk so a little more desk space would definitely help me.
Ask yourself, do you need a little extra elbow support?

Cross marketing is pushing the limit each day and to prove my point, Santa Cruz has just released the SkateDrive. It’s a USB flash drive shaped like one of their popular board designs. We saw the USB surfdrive a while back, so I guess it’s not that big of a stretch.
According to Zedomax, my source…and ya the guy who blogs while drinking beer [see the list of articles below – yet again proving my point] the…
Action Sport Drives have teamed up with Santa Cruz to create the first and only authentic USB Flash Drive skateboards. We’ve combined this innovative design with the graphics from actual Santa Cruz skateboard.
So what other crazy things does Max write about while hitting the bottle?

AudioCubes introduced their USB Owl a couple months ago and I heard about it, but didn’t re-discover the Firefox bookmark until tonight. Sad, but that’s OK as when the story broke the product wasn’t available, now it is [$39].
The USB Owl will shimmy it’s head and blink her eyes while you type on the keyboard, all the while making you feel as though you are not alone. To me this seems all a little creepy – some nice tunes in the background would do me just fine.
The USB Owl is available in four different colors [white, silver, brown and pink].

The USB Crunching Dog seems to be a clear cut knock-off of the USB humping dog, just a bit more PG13 for the corporate world. The USB Crunching Dog will begin it’s endless “set” of sit-ups while you data transfer those MP3’s from your DAP to your Laptop.
Being a USB powered gadget, the little dog has an endless amount of energy and will make your sit-up routine look like a joke. All this gadget goodness for $16.

Mimoco just released the second Mimobot of their Series Three in the Star Wars line, this one is Wicket. I guess this would be about as cute as one could get for a USB drive. It’s a complete opposite of the Darth Sidious release last week.
The remaining two characters will be revealed in the next two weeks, and the entire series goes on sale July 23rd. Check out the closeups and a little diorama of Wicket standing on an Imperial Speeder in the woods with several other characters.
After all, what good is a USB drive if it doesn’t look like one of your favorite movie characters and can’t be set it up in little dioramas?
I don’t have USB connectivity issues, but I believe many do. The super 16 port USB hub will help in those situations. The plethora of ports will give any computer uber-geek the ability to connect just about everything in his office to a single computer. But even then, the uber-geek has the ability to split up those 16 ports to be shared with two computers…thus spreading the geekness all around.
The super 16 port USB hub has a switch for setting ports to computer A or B. Or you can simply keep all 16 ports designated to a single computer. Connect your printer, several cameras, web-cam, your handful of USB drives, USB fan, another USB fan if you overheat easily, maybe a USB mask, or USB wrist pad, and of course a USB aroma drive. I think you get the picture.
The super hub comes in at $140. Fully supports the USB 2.0 specification and has a designated power line to insure optimal performance to all those USB powered gadgets.
LED lights are leaking there way into many things these days, and this over sized LED light tube speaker from Brando is another classic example. It doesn’t pulsate with the beat, but it does glow your speaker system into a cool looking desk fixture.
It’s USB powered and the USB powered gadget costs just $22 so an ideal gift for a kids night-light who needs some music to help fall asleep.
