IOCell released the largest USB flash drive yet at CeBIT 2006, a 16GB device named CellDisk16GB. They probably bridged two 8GB flash memory chips to produce this monster as 16GB single memory chips are not yet available. IOCell has not additional information other then making a splash at CeBIT – GetUSB wonders what fruit or vegetable will pear up for this photo shoot.
A spokesperson from Belkin confirmed earlier this week the award winning (Best in Design CES 06) Belkin wireless USB hub will be delayed until July of 2006. The delay was categorized as typical manufacturing delays but GetUSB believes it’s more to do with the Freescale core technology, CableFree, used in the Belkin device. Original ship dates where around April of this year but now are more in line with the WiMedia Alliance Member’s release date for commercially ready UltraWideBand products. So, the race is still on.

The SanDisk Ultra II SD Plus card is now at 2GB capacity, a jump in size which doubles the older model. The card looks and operates like a typical SD card but can fold in half to expose a USB 2.0 connection for quick connect to PCs. The card is High Speed 2.0 making it an ideal card for digital cameras, camera phones, PDAs and digital video cameras. SanDisk is quoting a 9MB per second transfer rate (when stars are perfectly aligned) and read speeds of 10MB/sec. The Ultra II speed increases camera performance with quick writes to the flash memory. Expect the SanDisk Ultra II Plus card around June 06 and with a list price of $135USD.
