USB Powered Monitor By Samsung
GetUSB has reported on monitors which connect via USB, but now Samsung has fine tuned this product to include connection AND power to be exclusively through USB. The Korean electronics giant made this possible by including two USB connections to the host so that one transmits data and some power and the 2nd USB connection is designated to power only. We’ve seen this before in USB hard drives, so it’s nothing new.
USB Cuff Links For A Spy
James Bond could use a gadget like the USB cuff links. How else could you slurp GBs of data from a secure area then waltz out without anyone knowing. Ok granted that’s a poor example of how you could use the USB cuff links, but it makes you wonder, they would be kinda cool. Designer Ravi Ratan is looking to up your geek look with the expensive $195 links and with storage to 4GBs no less. For those seriously considering this, also consider the possibility for engraving of up to eight letters.
Off Topic: Time Lapse of Gulf Oil Spill – It Makes You Sick
Here is a time lapse of the British Petroleum oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico which started April 20th, just days before Earth Day. The music makes things a bit dramatic, but you’ll get the point. What a horrible disaster and with effects we will see for years. Hats off to NASA for providing us the technology to view an event like this from an entirely different perspective. It’s important to see this imagery to understand the impact we make on the Earth. Granted, we are a spec of time in the Earth’s life span, but making matters worse for ourselves isn’t very beneficial. Lets hope something good comes out of this horrible disaster, like it being the catalyst to really sink our teeth into new energy methods and technologies. Source: Gizmodo. USB Not Working – Try This
Do you have USB ports on your computer but for some reason the devices connected are not working? Or maybe your USB ports stop working after a long period of time? Don’t worry, the USB not working is [most likely] related to your computer configuration, not the ports malfunctioning. If our hunch is right, the fix is easy. This is what we recommend checking if USB devices are not working on your computer. Lets check to see if the USB hubs and ports are set to power save when idle. What this setting controls is the ability for a USB port to sleep if not used. The sleep mode of the port is an effort to help your computer save energy going to connected devices that are not in use. To check the USB power setting lets do the following: Go to > START > CONTROL PANEL > SYSTEM. From here go to the Hardware Tab and click the Device Manager. Next, scroll down to the section labeled Universal Serial Bus controllers and expand it out. Right click on the USB Hub listing and select properties.

USB Port Cleaner – Is It Needed?
Brando announced a $17 USB port cleaner gadget. At first glance it’s a great idea and well needed in many situations. How many times has your flash drive been stuffed into your pocket, dropped on the ground or left in the glove box? In each of those situations it’s very likely junk or debris could have made it into the USB contacts.
