3Com introduces VoIP cell phone
3Com is leading the charge for SIP VoIP cell phones. SIP stands for Session Initiation Protocol and SIP enables call-management functions to be embedded in the phone itself, rather than in the network infrastructure. Although this looks almost exactly like the D-Link DPH-541, the new 3Com wireless 3108 VoIP phone is geared towards government facilities, doctors, nurses and college campus’. The reason, wireless VoIP allows for greater coverage in places like hospitals, large companies and college settings because it’s easy and affordable for administration to set up hot-spots to insure clear connectivity 24/7 – rather then depending on independent cellular towers that might not be located in ideal spots. The 3Com 3108 works from a 802.11b/g wireless network and has all the encryption technology needed to keep your strange prognoses between just you, your doctor and nurse.
