Stop Watch Time Machine Blind Camera

It doesn’t use a lens. It doesn’t take a picture, but it is a camera. So what am I talking about? The blind camera “Buttons” simply marks a place in time, upon connection to the internet, it searches for other pictures taken at that exact same moment. Whatever “Buttons” finds, it will download for your viewing.

I’ll admit, not the most interesting of ideas. After all, who cares what others did at a specific moment. But, with the popularity of Flickr, Shutterfly and the likes it would be a fun social experiment. So with the help of Buttons the blind camera, you can build a snapshot of time, from every corner of the globe. Continue Reading

Get Your iPod-Mix-On with iMultiMix 8 USB

Alesis has a new compact mixing station that does a little more than mix. What’s great about the iMultiMix 8 USB, is that you have the ability to record directly to iPod. So this direct-connect ability puts those 28-bit studio grade digital effects and recordings ripe-n-ready for podcasting.

For ultra–clean live recordings of nearly any performance, including home studios, musicians, podcasters, and houses of worship, the iMultiMix 8 USB is an ideal solution.
I reported on the iPod DJMixer from ION Audio, but that was just a mixer for playing from your iPod, the iMultiMix gives you professional quality mixing, 3 band per channel EQ, guitar/line inputs, built-in FX and iPod recording in a single, smart package. This should run about $500. Continue Reading

ShowCase: Boot AppleTV from USB

Another Update: Use external drive via USB for unlimited storage! Update: The guys at AwkwardTV.org have been very busy. Here are some quick links to their wiki site with some great AppleTV hacks. The full wiki is here. None of this could be done without the hard work of Ozy and his clan at AwkwardTV.org ————— Ozy from AwkwardTV.org figured out how to write a bootstrap from USB so that he can now start to hack AppleTV without opening the box. Here is a showcase of the USB boot.

If you’re interested in more details on this hack and others, visit AwkwardTV.org for updates. Continue Reading

USB Flash Drive – USB Hub – It’s All the Same

RiDATA introduces their Yego flash drive, the name is a twist on Lego as the Yego lets you connect multiple flash drives, creating a mini-hub environment. And if you haven’t done the math already the “Y” in Yego is derived from the fact that…well, just look at the picture.
RiDATA Yego
What GetUSB.info is most interested about is what kind of transfer rates can you expect from the additional drives plugged into the “Y” connectors. We’ve put one on order and will report back. Available from 128MBs to 4GBs.

New Trinket Disney USB Hub from Brando

Brando released another Disney trinket, this time a Disney USB hub available in either a blue Donald Duck or Black-n-Red Mickey Mouse. Not much else to say other than the Disney USB hub has four ports and runs $14.

As I’ve mentioned before, although you order directly from Brando in Hong Kong shipping is quick and cheap. The last item I purchased was the USB Circus Cannon. You can read a review of the USB circus cannon but if you’re going to drop some coin stick with the USB missile launcher. Continue Reading

Lexar is Ready with Readyboost

Yesterday Lexar announced their full line of USB flash drives are Windows Vista Readyboost compliant. I’m starting to believe that being Readyboost compliant should be a standard for any flash drive. Then again, the specification from Windows is very general that any additional flash memory can be flagged for use with Readyboost.
Lexar Readboost
None the less, welcome Lexar; welcome. If you’re interested in seeing what kind of boost Readyboost gives, check out the video. Continue Reading

4GB memory stick micro m2
Today SanDisk announced their largest Memory Stick Micro card the M2. At convenient 4GBs it’s the largest flash memory card for any mobile phone. The M2 was designed, in partnership, with Sony and their line of Ericcson mobile phones.
Norm Frentz, director of marketing believes, “this is the threshold at which mobile phones provide enough capacity to become the user’s all-in-one portable music player, camcorder, photo album and video player.”
And I for one believe him. At 4GBs you can do just about anything and carry just about anything you could imagine. Continue Reading

Zune Hack: Run Zune on Vista

My buddy purchased a Zune a couple days ago and learned it didn’t work with his Windows Vista. He did figure out how to run the Zune on Windows Vista. A little digging around he came up with the following article, thought to pass it along.
