What are the two things people always tell you; “don’t hire your friends and family” and “keep your work life separate from your personal life.“ Well, the USB split stick was designed for just that. The USB drive is split into two drives. The top lever allows you to pop out the USB connector for either work files or personal files.
I think this is brilliant.
You get 2GBs for each side, so whether it’s work and home, his and hers, or legal, illegal, it’s easy to separate the two without having a stoner moment and mixing your lifestyles.
The 4GB split stick sells for $20 and is available now.
A dude named Robotic Evil introduced a new version of his Atari USB case collection. This time an Atari 2600 cartridge. Bulky in design, but cool in style the USB Atari case is getting 2GB of inserted flash memory.
Given the size of the cartridge, it might be more appropriate to stuff a Western Digital Passport USB hard drive in there and really make some good use of the space.
I also think he could tip the scale of coolness with a retractable USB cable rather than the clunky one attached.
However; kudos to Robotic Evil for even thinking it up in the first place.

The MNEMOSYNE USB cube is an artistic 3 dimension puzzle hiding a 16GB USB key inside. The product is made by SolidAlliance, which based on their past products, is all a puzzle to me.
I can understand the artistic point of all this, but take that away and this is what you have:

These USB fish are rubberized drives giving them a very unique shape and bright, vibrant colors. I don’t think the typcial computer geek would appreciate these, but for someone a bit more into aquatic life these could be of interest.
First up:Â USB Swordfish
Louis Vuitton is getting into the designer USB flash drive market with their new Platinum series Damier Graphite USB key. This 4GB USB flash drive not only sports a good amount of storage, but a bit more stylish and trendy than your typical custom flash drive.
The Louis Vuitton USB stick comes with a platinum ring, a durable cord – much stronger than your typcial lanyard – and a carabiner that can attach the USB stick to your bag, cell phone etc.

The last time GetUSB.info did a post about the largest USB stick it was for the 64GB Transcend flash drive. That little guy retailed at near $200, but that was also back in September of 2008.
Two days ago, Kingston released their 128GB USB flash drive. The Kingstong DataTraveler 200 is “now” the largest USB stick in the market. 128GBs.
This guy retails for $546. That is a very expensive drive when you compare it to the Western Digital Passports where Terabytes are under $300…but you can’t put a price tag on portability. Or can you?
There are no special features nor auto-backup software included in the bundle, just a simple drive with a ginormous capacity, a sliding cap, and password utility for extra security. Strangely enough, Kingston will only sell the 128GB version as a made to order process. Go figure.

Dane Memory is running a special this week through Buy.com for a 16GB USB flash drive for $27 and change. This is a great price considering almost all the other 16GB drives are between $38-40. In addition, you are getting some great produce. Dane Memory uses only the best controllers and flash memory [Toshiba flash] so the performance is Category 6. Considering most netbooks these days have 64GB hard drives, this nice little pocket addition of 16GB could make all the difference when a bit more storage is needed.
Another feature worth noting is the capless design. Much better than the swing arms we’ve seen out there.
Here is the company line for the GetUSB Deals 16GB Dane Memory drive: [only while supplies last]

Not really, but if they had too – they would. The Statue of Liberty USB drive is a perfect replica of the original at Liberty Island. The manufacturer put great detail into make sure the smallest grooves and carves match the real Statue of Liberty.
Available in 2, 4 and 8GB sizes.
If you have a moment, here is some information you probably didn’t know about the Statue of Librty:
The first model, on a small scale, was built in 1870. This first statue is now in the Jardin du Luxembourg in Paris.
A second model, also on a small scale, was further brought to Maceió, a city in the Northeast of Brazil. This model is in front

Here is a great looking Steampunk Custom flash drive. The creator, Marcos, put a brass shell around the outside of this USB stick, then decorated the outside with miniature gears and watch components.
It appears Marcos took the USB cap and attached it to the end with some included brass gears and other Steampunk detail.
The custom flash drive uses a piston gear from the USB connector to the watch components as a representation of the power from the PC being transferred to the heart of the USB stick.
The 2GB steampunk custom flash drive is only $50, is 100% handcrafted and completely unique. There is limited stock, so if interested get on it.
The USB Steampunk can be found and purchased at Etsy.

Pretec is about to introduce an aptly named eSATA/USB dual interface flash drive named Cobra. This ultra fast flash drive has max read speeds of 90MB per second and max write speeds of 60MBs per second.
The dual channel interface has the eSATA connector at one end and the USB connector at the other.
The Pretec Cobra is available in 32GB and 64GB sizes, which is respectable given the fast transfer rates. This info was sourced via Engadget China, so no word on pricing or availablility.

The blogosphere has been talking quite a bit about the new LaCie USB key chains, in fact, I did a post just the other day about them. Well, yesterday LaCie sent GetUSB.info the iamaKey model. Here she is in the wild.
The iamaKey is a beautiful drive. Extremely solid, heavy and doesn’t scratch easily. LaCie put a lot of effort into the design and material selection to make one outstanding drive. I’ve used dozens of flash keys and most end up failing and in the trash. With the durability I see here, the iamaKey will last.
So here’s the deal…I’m going to keep the iamaKey on my keychain until it breaks. I use USB sticks daily so there will be frequent tests. I’ve also been known to forget my keys in my pants, which ultimately ends up in the wash…so there are many stress test opportunities.
I’ll report back when the device fails, but don’t expect an update anytime soon.
