Jack PC – A computer inside a wall outlet

The Jack PC is a revolutionary new ‘thin client’ computer small enough to fit in a wall outlet. Thin clients are effectively desktop computers designed to connect to a ‘terminal server’ or Citrix based environment where processing is handled by servers instead of PCs. Thin clients have been getting smaller and smaller over the years however this is the world’s first Windows-based thin client small enough to fit in a network wall port. The benefits to business are massive since there’s no longer a need for a PC – simply plug in your monitor, keyboard and mouse into the wall.

So how does Jack PC work? The Jack PC runs Windows CE and can be used in three ways. For best performance use the in-built Citrix ICA client to connect to an existing Citrix server infrastructure, giving you a feature-rich, high speed Windows desktop over any network. Alternatively you can use the in-built Microsoft RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) client to connect to any Windows server environment running terminal services. Finally, if you don’t have an existing terminal server infrastructure, the Jack PC has Internet Explorer 6.0 built in which can be used to access the internet or any browser driven applications…and the Jack PC is packed with USB connectivity.
