The US Branding Company has come up with a very clever USB stick which acts like a puzzle. This is an excellent idea for promotional USB drives, as it forces the user to construct your company logo or brand before the USB stick can be used.
The trick is to correctly configure the printed logo so the USB connector pops out when the puzzle is complete. Think of this as the 1974 phenomenon Rubiks Cube but applied to a USB stick and obvious very simplified.
The US Branding Co. has coined the phrase Rotating Puzzle USB and is available in a wide range of colors and sizes with print capabilities from single color to multi-color prints and logos.

American Weigh company introduces a new hybrid USB mouse which includes a small digital scale. The precision digital pocket scale goes down to a 10th mark and supports 500g / 17.635oz / 16.075ozt / 321.5dwt weight capacities.
I would think this be a perfect scale for the small office or front office secretary for quick checking of letters and small packages. Some of those larger scales take up quite a bit of space.
The USB digital scale mouse is available for $59 and a higher weight capacity unit for $69.
The USB digital scale will also work as a standalone device without connection with an internal [rechargeable] battery and includes a stainless steel platform in the size of 2.25 x 2.75 inches.

We’ve got a select few readers who’ve purchased all the Mimobot Star Wars drives, and now they can expand their collection with the Han Solo Carbonite USB drive.
As SlashGear points out, Han Solo was suppose to be frozen for eternity but without encryption technology your data wont have that same possibility, so maybe it’ll escape just as Han Solo came back to life.
The creator, Jason’s Creations has just sold out…but send him an email as more will make it to market, I’m sure.
USBFever has a high temperature again. They are currently promoting a USB car charge for only 1 penny! That’s right, you can now charge any USB device from your car lighter for only 1 cent.
USBFever will ship anywhere in the world for $2.99. So your out-the-door price is $3.00. Clearly an excellent deal.
Score yourself some brownie points with your geek friend and pass this hot deal along. It wont last forever!
*Also great idea for a stocking stuff this holiday season.

On Monday the USB Implementers Forum released the official documents for SuperSpeed USB 3.0. We’ve been reporting on the SuperSpeed for about 6 months and it’s finally come to fruition. The logo to the right might be the USB-IF official logo as we pulled it directly off their press release material.
What we have today is the specification outline, meaning we don’t have products yet, but now developers and chip manfucaturers have an official outline of how to build USB host controllers, hubs and other logic devices to manage the super speed of USB 3.0.
The new specification claims transfer speeds of 4.8Gbps [Gigabits per second] rate which translates to a data transfer rate of approximately 600MB per second.
So what next? Well, between now and the next year, manufacturers will be in a mad rush to get

Nanovision is aptly named because their product line is compiled of mini LCD monitors which connect via USB. The monitors are designed to be a single use screen for dedicated applications such as IM windows, stock quote streamers, toolbars for programs like Photoshop and calendars.
Nanovision is introducing 4 models of the mini LCD size with their technology backed by DisplayLink. The MIMO USB Monitor starts at a 7″ display with a 800×400 resolution, with higher end models including webcams, speakers and even touch screen capability.
Nanovision didn’t comment on availability in the states but the currency conversion gives the MIMO USB Monitors a price tag of just under $130.

If you take a typical USB stick and select the Windows format option, you only get the FAT and FAT32 option for anything under 4GBs. However, there are times you might want to format as NTFS. For example, you want to set specific file and folder privileges to the content and you feel NTFS is the best way.
Well, there is an easy solution and it’s just a matter of setting the options correctly in Windows for your device.
This is how you do it:
Start > My Computer > Right click on the drive letter for the USB stick and select Properties.
Next click the Hardware tab of the Properties dialogue box and select the device which you’d like to change. In this case, it’s drive letter F shown as “Simple Flash Disk 2.0 USB Device“ From here you can double-click the device or highlight in blue and click the Properties button.

Press Release:Â Andrea Electronics Revolutionizes PC Sound Quality with Debut of New High Fidelity USB Sound Card.
Andrea Electronics revolutionizes PC sound with their all new PureAudioâ„¢ USB-SA high fidelity external sound card. Yes, it’s the shape of a USB stick, but it packs the power of even the most impressive sound cards. In fact, it’s designed to surpass the quality of hi-end sound cards.
Andrea Electronics is a specialist in noise cancelation technology and has incorporated their technology into the PureAudio™ USB-SA sound card. The idea is to provide superior tools for noise cancelation so conversations via VoIP, gaming chats, or on-line video such as YouTube will sound much better than from traditional sound cards found inside your PC.
One of the fundamental problems with sound cards inside your computer is their location. Sitting right next to a power supply or processor means there is audio degradation from noise emitted from these devices. By having the PureAudioâ„¢ USB-SA external sound card away from all this, your sound quality is greatly improved. Coupled with the Andrea Electronics noise cancellation technology it’s unlikely you’ll get anything as clean and clear as the PureAudioâ„¢ USB-SA.
“We were immediately impressed by the compact size and the quality. The full duplex device isn’t just a petite pretty face. It produced the lowest noise floor of any previous soundcard we’ve tested.†said Lunis Orcutt of KnowBrainer, value added reseller of speech recognition equipment and software. “The USB-SA seems to be well thought out and attractively priced. Some of the microphones that we sell have difficulty with full duplex USB Pods but none have a problem with the USB-SA, which is now our favorite.â€
No pun intended, but this laptop fan is cool looking with a great design. The Dog shapped USB cooling fan is an ideal adition to those working from laptops. With two 6″ built-in cooling fans, it can dissipate heat away from the bottom of your laptop and cool down the the under belly of your laptop.
The USB cooling fan for your laptop comes in either a Dog or Penguin shape and acrylic top. It’s almost a shame you cover up the design with your laptop.
Here is a side view of the laptop cooling pad:

Ahh, Budweiser. I could use a nice cold one right now, but I don’t think this USB beer drive is the answer. First off, it’s not cold – which is how I like it.
Clearly a promotional USB drive for a trade show give-away, this Budweiser stick is the first I’ve ever seen with liquid inside the plastic case. Then again, taking just 5 seconds to think about this and review the picture, there is no way liquid is inside. Rather that’s some nice looking brown plastic and fake white bubbles for an ever-so-real look. How could this thing still have carbonation?
If you’re a fool and think this USB drive is drinkable – then you really do need a drink.

Interactive motion control games are definitely at the top of most kid’s lists.  The Wii was so popular we’ve got blogs about it, and last Christmas it was THE gift to give. This year, another motion control game piece might be the hot ticket. Actiga is announcing a full line of mini-motion controllers for gaming this fall. Below is a picture of those hard-to-get finger skateboards, mounted on a pivot ball and connects via USB.
USB controllers will be available for both Mac and PC systems in versions that look like realistic skateboards, RC Cars, baseball, and a futuristic racing vehicle. Each of the controllers will connect via USB and will sell for $19.99. It’s not clear if the controller has games built-in like the plug-and-play devices for TV or if they are simply controllers to be used with other PC games already on the market.
