Rock solid, dual-factor authentication UFD from SanDisk

10.25.06 & Falls Into| Flash Storage| SanDisk| Security| USB News

TrustedSignins SanDiskTrustedSignins from SanDisk sounds dangerously close to the IDVault we talked about back in July. The TrustedSignins UFD (USB Flash Drive) is a security tool based off a dual-factor authentication process. The dual factor is A) something you know, such as your password and B) something you have, such as the TrustedSignins UFD.

This authentication process is an excellent step towards cyber crime and it will be interesting to see how long it will take financial institutions to embrace. SanDisk does offer a little more then the IDVault with, “In addition to entering a static user name and password, a consumer connects the SanDisk flash drive containing TrustedSignins technology to a PC and a one-time password (OTP) is generated and supplied to the website for an extra level of security. The one-time password can be routed seamlessly to an identity protection network for validation, allowing the user to access multiple accounts such as those from a bank, auction house or brokerage.”
