birth announcements

GetUSB has mentioned before about a fellow blogger and friend who’s started a baby birth announcements company which specializes in poster style movie trailer themes. It’s a very creative way to let the world know about your new born. Well, he’s twisted the product offering once again, with DVD birth announcements.

Business has gone very well and with Movie Trailer Birth Announcements as the next big thing, everyone will want a movie trailer of their new born. To kick things off - and since June and July are the most popular months for baby births - he decided to offer up a coupon for those in need. You can get DVD birth announcements for less with the GetUSBinfo discount coupon. The coupon is a 20% discount for a movie trailer styled video.

The video production, layout and delivery is just amazing - actually riveting. Click the screen shot I took below to view a demo:

Gotta admit - it’s great looking stuff and a mind-blower for the grandparents, friends and family. It’s a keepsake everyone will cherish. Besides, a snap shot of your baby stuffed inside a Hallmark card is so 80’s.

Get a DVD or you can sign up for the video to be hosted on their server.Get with the times, get a Movie Trailer Birth Announcement. Get it for 20% less. Simply type in “GETUSBINFO20” upon checkout to receive the 20% off discount [all caps please]. The coupon expires Oct 31, 2008.

MLB is going hi-tech with their SportsLive USB wristband.  The product is a USB drive in the shape of a wristband where the MLB association data loads memorable baseball broadcasts for eternal enjoyment.  These exclusive audio and video records will be distributed through MLB.com and eventually local vendors at the stadiums.

There will be a couple of SportsLive wristbands up for purchase during the All-Star week on MLB.com, where one of them features the broadcast of the Farm Home Run Derby while the other will store a broadcast of the All-Star Game and pre-game ceremony. Included in both is a two-hour MLB Productions documentary entitled “Yankees Stadium: Baseball’s Cathedral,” some desktop wallpapers and ringtones for your phone.

Today’s fans want to consume content when and where they want, across screens large and small,” says Elizabeth Scott, vice president of programming and business affairs for Major League Baseball. “We’re thrilled to make such a versatile product, which includes a complete game broadcast, available as a truly efficient consumer experience. It is fitting that in this final year of Yankee Stadium, fans will be able to own a piece of history after attending these momentous All-Star events.

The SportsLive USB wristband includes a microSD card reader so the device gives you 2GBs of data storage on the wristband and unlimited storage through removable microSD. (more…)

iPhone 3G Launch Problems

07.14.08 | Apple / iPod | Permalink

The long awaited iPhone 3G was released on Friday, July 11th. But what should have been a happy and joyous day for iPhone fans, ended up being an exercise in frustration for many.

AT&T’s insistence on trying to activate the phones in store taxed Apple’s authentication server (more info) and caused lines to move at a snail’s pace or sent buyers home with a phone only good for making emergency calls. During last year’s iPhone 1.0 launch Apple had everyone activate their own phone at home through iTunes.

Worse yet, AT&T outlets were allowed to sell far fewer phones that Apple Stores, forcing them to turn away customers who waited hours to get their hands on one.

(Photo credit: MethodShop.com)Earlier this week, Apple also had problems with the relaunch of their data service now called MobileMe (it was previously called iTools and .Mac). The MobileMe service is designed to synchronize a user’s personal data across devices, including the iPhone, but many users were denied access to their accounts this week, including Frank Accarrino.

“I’ve been trying to upload pictures from iPhoto to my .Mac website for the past few days but it’s offline. I can’t even get to my Mac mail. I bet Steve Jobs is pissed right now,” Frank told MethodShop.com.

Apple is usually known for flawless product launch events. Let’s hope Apple solves these network issues for next time. It’s estimated that 1 million iPhone 3G models were sold in the U.S. this weekend.

Nice Arm Rest For the Work-a-Holic

07.10.08 | Fundraising via USB| USB Fever | Permalink

Not every work station is ideal.  In fact, most people probably have a desk area overloaded with paper, USB gadgets and family photos, so this portable arm-rest comes in very handy.

Although it’s not a USB gadget, the arm-rest could be an invaluable tool to help fight Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or fatigue from your arm, elbow and shoulders.

Even as I type this article, my elbow is hanging off the side of the desk so a little more desk space would definitely help me.

Ask yourself, do you need a little extra elbow support? (more…)

Santa Cruz is Making USB SkateDrive

07.09.08 | Flash Storage | Permalink

Cross marketing is pushing the limit each day and to prove my point, Santa Cruz has just released the SkateDrive.  It’s a USB flash drive shaped like one of their popular board designs.  We saw the USB surfdrive a while back, so I guess it’s not that big of a stretch.

According to Zedomax, my source…and ya the guy who blogs while drinking beer [see the list of articles below - yet again proving my point] the…

Action Sport Drives have teamed up with Santa Cruz to create the first and only authentic USB Flash Drive skateboards. We’ve combined this innovative design with the graphics from actual Santa Cruz skateboard.

USB Owl Will Shake, Rattle and Roll

AudioCubes introduced their USB Owl a couple months ago and I heard about it, but didn’t re-discover the Firefox bookmark until tonight. Sad, but that’s OK as when the story broke the product wasn’t available, now it is [$39].

The USB Owl will shimmy it’s head and blink her eyes while you type on the keyboard, all the while making you feel as though you are not alone. To me this seems all a little creepy - some nice tunes in the background would do me just fine.

The USB Owl is available in four different colors [white, silver, brown and pink]. (more…)

USB Crunching Dog Full of Eternal Energy

usb crunching dog

The USB Crunching Dog seems to be a clear cut knock-off of the USB humping dog, just a bit more PG13 for the corporate world.  The USB Crunching Dog will begin it’s endless “set” of sit-ups while you data transfer those MP3’s from your DAP to your Laptop.

Being a USB powered gadget, the little dog has an endless amount of energy and will make your sit-up routine look like a joke.  All this gadget goodness for $16. (more…)
