Lindy rolls out a USB Cat5 Ethernet extender to make the connection up to 150 feet away. Given this requires an Ethernet cable, there are two other parts. One which is the USB plug for your PC/Notebook and the other for the USB device. Using standard Cat5/5e/6 cable you connect the rest. Now at only 12Mb per second we’re talking USB 1.1 here, but hey, not bad.

Although this product was out in August the Samsung K5 MP3 player and speaker system is worth investigating. Using DNSe, Samsung’s proprietary Digital Natural Sound engine the K5 provides virtual surround sound in a hand-held device. The K5 has a back plane which slides up to allow the speakers to resonate. Although only two speakers Samsung claims an all natural sound with higher accuracy to tones and pitch.
