I’ve had the problem of too many highlighter pens, no place to put them and a need for USB connectivity. Therefore, I’m glad Gadgets2Order came up with this Dexx USB design. The square design acts as a dock station for your yellow, blue and green highlighter pens. In addition, you’ve got a USB flash drive for storing those digital files. Yet, the drive size seems too big for easy use with laptops and front panel USB ports which are set-in from the front bezel.
Never-the-less you can turn the Dexx into a USB hub if the flash drive doesn’t work out.
One last deal-breaker is a minimum lot of 50 must be ordered at a 7.92 per unit price. Probably a good idea on paper [bar napkin no less] but doesn’t seem like the best product idea.

Which USB watch would you pick?
Our first contestant is this high-end looking watch with 4GB of removable USB flash memory. Outfitted with:
This watch has a plastic case covered by stainless steel mask with brushed silver finish and convex mineral glass with shiny raised index. The USB flash drive fits inside the watch case flush with the contours of the watch case – ready to hold your data safe and secure.
What I particularly like about this watch is the claimed “Japanese quartz movement” Not sure what that means, but if it’s anything like my Honda, this USB watch is dependable and spot-on time.
Next we have the USB Timeless watch. A geekness rendition of what a watch should really look like.Â

The USB key is available in every size imaginable from 512MB to 8GB, fully customizable with logo [as we did with GetUSB.info] and a variety of colors. Lead time seems to be about 1 week with quantity runs between 500 to 50,000.

This isn’t your typical message board at a college campus and it’s no more likely to land you a gig, like a college message board. It’s an LED message board so you can pretty much send a message to yourself or to a co-worker within eye site of your desk. What is different about this LED message board [from others] is the ability to sound out your message as well. USB Geek has an example of a Happy Birthday song for the product which, I must admit, make someone’s birthday kinda fun and surely get a laugh out of the aging recipient.
There isn’t much to the LED message board, just the LED lights which scrolls your message along, a USB connection and simple software to create your message and set sound effects.
For just under $25 it could be a fun gadget. What I’d like to do is sync this up with the door-bell so a message would appear to those Mormon folks who always come knocking on my door. Or better yet, sync the LED message board to my Nav station in the car so I can really speak my mind.
USB Geek is pushing this for $23 and change. YouTube link.

As announced, Mimobot has come out with their 3rd USB Mimobot for the Series 3 Star Wars set. Today they announced the arrival of the Royal Guard. In flashy red attire you can’t miss the Royal Guard, and these guys look tough as they’ve got their wand in hand ready to kick some a$$.
So as a short re-cap we have: Darth Sidious, Wicket and Royal Guard. See a trend here?
Mimoco hasn’t officially released the product for purchase but that comes at the end of the month. Here is the corporate link to keep yourself up-to-date.

What does a petri dish need to grow bacteria? In general terms; heat, moisture and light. So this USB heating device seems like a good idea, but after a few minutes of contemplation – the Heat Me is nothing more than a germ fest.
If one doesn’t clean this off and unplug it after heating their liquid it could get very nasty – makes you wonder why you’d pick this over something more simple [and probably just as effective] as a USB mug warmer.

Wish I had the talent and I wish I had the time. Steampunk seems like a very cool way to take any product and turn it into something outstanding. Take this Steampunk USB mouse for example.
Some Russian modd’er put in some serious hours making this Steampunk probably one of the best we’ve seen. Right down to the brass wear on the USB connector and cloth material used for the cord. Well done.
It seems the mouse itself was shaped into a tank link design with cannons on the top left and right, hatch on the top and oval brass pieces on the side for tread. I don’t know if this is what the modder was going for, but the Steampunk mouse seems to resemble it.
As with all Steampunk gear, this one’s not for sale or in production, it’s just a nice piece of hardware which drools craftsmanship and time suckage.

For obvious reasons we aren’t the biggest Bluetooth fans but more of a WUSB fan, never-the-less we do stumble into very cool products with Bluetooth technology. Take this Estilo Carrera GT Porshce Bluetooth mouse from Brando.
The Estilo GT mouse is extremely cool looking and the ideal gadget gift for that Porsche loving greek friend. The Bluetooth dongle sits in the rear trunk of the wireless mouse with left and right clickers along with scroll mouse on the hood.
I guess you could make the argument that some fellow “over seas” chopped up the Estilo design and did the world a disfavor by creating a Porsche mouse, but if that’s you…get a life…it’s a cool looking mouse.
The Estilo GT Bluetooth Mouse is $38 and $55 with tiny USB Bluetooth V2.0+EDR adapter (see I knew we’d fit in USB somewhere)

The long awaited iPhone 3G was released on Friday, July 11th. But what should have been a happy and joyous day for iPhone fans, ended up being an exercise in frustration for many.
AT&T’s insistence on trying to activate the phones in store taxed Apple’s authentication server (more info) and caused lines to move at a snail’s pace or sent buyers home with a phone only good for making emergency calls. During last year’s iPhone 1.0 launch Apple had everyone activate their own phone at home through iTunes.
Worse yet, AT&T outlets were allowed to sell far fewer phones that Apple Stores, forcing them to turn away customers who waited hours to get their hands on one.
The iPhone 3G line outside the Manhattan Apple Store on 14th Street at 12:52PM. Estimated wait time was ~4 hours. (Photo credit: MethodShop.com)Earlier this week, Apple also had problems with the relaunch of their data service now called MobileMe (it was previously called iTools and .Mac). The MobileMe service is designed to synchronize a user’s personal data across devices, including the iPhone, but many users were denied access to their accounts this week, including Frank Accarrino.
“I’ve been trying to upload pictures from iPhoto to my .Mac website for the past few days but it’s offline. I can’t even get to my Mac mail. I bet Steve Jobs is pissed right now,” Frank told MethodShop.com.
Apple is usually known for flawless product launch events. Let’s hope Apple solves these network issues for next time. It’s estimated that 1 million iPhone 3G models were sold in the U.S. this weekend.

Not every work station is ideal. In fact, most people probably have a desk area overloaded with paper, USB gadgets and family photos, so this portable arm-rest comes in very handy.
Although it’s not a USB gadget, the arm-rest could be an invaluable tool to help fight Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or fatigue from your arm, elbow and shoulders.
Even as I type this article, my elbow is hanging off the side of the desk so a little more desk space would definitely help me.
Ask yourself, do you need a little extra elbow support?
