Wireless USB 3.0 Monitor Is Really Proximity Monitor

Samsung has a new Central Station WLED monitor system in 23 inch or 27 inch format.  The wireless solution is very unique in that it automatically detects your devices with in the 1 meter range.  So as you approach with your laptop, the monitor will automatically sync up with your PC. In additional the Samsung WLED includes USB ports on the monitor so as your PC approaches, those peripherals hanging off the side will also become usable with your laptop.  I should actually re-edit this post and mention netbook as those screens are way too small and something like this would be ideal. Samsung didn’t get a change to post lag-time between user input on the PC and the reaction of the monitor for said input, but I’d venture to say it’s minimal – Samsung doesn’t cheat corners. iPhone and AT&T Start Testing FemToCells

femtocell attDo you know what Femtocells are?  I didn’t know until just the other day when I read an article about AT&T testing Femtocells to boost iPhone reception inside your home.  To restate:  a femtocell is a device to boost your mobile phone signal.  You can say phone booster.  Apparently Sprint has been selling this technology for a while and now AT&T is on board to improve their popular selling iPhone. The goal is to improve your G3 service inside the home via your high speed internet connection.  Think of a femtocell as turning your house into a cell phone tower. Testing is currently taking place through AT&T with expected products to ship the first half of next year.  So for those of you in the void, yet addicted to your iPhone, there is hope.  And it’s on the way. Imation Wireless USB Hard Drive

Yep, you heard it right.  Imation, from my understanding, is the first to offer a USB hard drive that is completely wireless.  Well, expect for the power cord. The Imation Apollo Pro WX is the wireless hard drive with speeds close to that of wired speeds.  Since the product isn’t yet available, we’ll need to wait for real-world results, but I’m keeping an optimistic outlook.  Mostly because I REALLY want one.

imation wireless hard drive

The Apollo Pro WX will use Seagate hard drives and will come in a variety of sizes with a maximum capacity of 1.5TBs.  The wireless hard drive solution has a total range of about 30 feet.  Meaning your hard drive can sit, by itself, up to 30 feet away from computers and read/write data as though you had a direct connect hard drive.  Talk about conveninece, this is it! Since USB wireless isn’t available on all computers, the Imation wireless hard drive will still come with an available USB port and cable for those who haven’t made the switch. Along with no price tag, Imation is also vague about release date, just sometime in the fall. Source:  Electronista. Continue Reading

Wireless Belkin 5 Port USB Hub Share’s The Love

Buy.com is currently running a special on the Belkin wireless 5 port USB hub and I thought to share the tip. Right now you can get the $100 wireless USB hub at just $79. The discounted price requires a MIR for the cash-back $20. Being able to reduce the amount of clutter in ones office, even by a cable or two, is always a noble cause. The Belkin wireless USB hub allows you to stream line your office and reduce the cable count by 5. Not bad I must say. Plus you get to share the love [wirelessly] with printers, scanners, network connections and digital cameras.

Using the wireless USB hub lets other computers on your network think a printer is directly connected to a PC, so instant and reliable access from any PC to a remote or introvert printer is np.You will need a router to make this bad boy work and transfer speeds will vary by environment and distance. But for $80 it’s worth giving this wireless thing a shot. Belking Wireless Hub product page. Continue Reading
