Yes, we have a soft spot for USB steampunk of just about anything. Here is another design release from WWWorks aptly named “Imperial.”
Like the USB Scorpion steampunk, the Eagle wraps around the tail of the USB with the LED in the position of the beating heart. What beauty. What symbolism.Brass tubing protects the inner USB but is also very decorative for looks, the etched brass overlay holds the dark red garnet cabochon above the LED. The head and tail plugs which hold the USB inside the brass tube is made of scorched wood with “highly visible grain” to give it the old craftsman style look.
Made in Budapest you can pick one up for just $180USD off Etsy.

If you’ve been to this site before, you know we are a fan of USB Steampunk. We just received word there is a new kid on the block who’s doing some cool USB steampunk.
This design is coined “Steampunk Scorpion USB.”
WWWorks is the profile name over at Etsy and he’s done some nice work on his first release. What I like about the style of this design is the lack of gears you so commonly see with USB steampunk. Rather, WWWorks put some detail into the design on the brass.
So here is a bit of detail about WWWorks. Based in Budapest Hungary WWWorks is a computer IT guy by day and a craftsman by night. Trying to break away from the

I am a bit of USB steampunk enthusiast and today Etsy shopping put out a notice on a fine looking piece with a wood body and includes rotating dials. Unfortunately I’m just an armchair enthusiast and have yet to build my very own, but one day – it will come.
Some say this USB steampunk drive looks like Rosie, the house robot, from the Jetsons. I guess the gear piece around the neck reminds you of the tradition maid outfit for a house cleaner back in the 60s.
The designer mentions something about an old narrow bridge as his inspiration for the USB steampunk, but I think he’s referencing the piece of wood he probably lifted off the bridge which he used as the body.
The design incorporates a gauge of some sort [no it doesn’t work] along with turn dials along the

Here at GetUSB.info we love the USB steampunk drive. We’ve reported on at least a dozen of them over the past couple years and I’m sure we’ve missed three times that many. Today we are tipping you off to a great tutorial on how to USB steampunk your own flash drive.
Instructables has a very detailed, 9 page tutorial on how to steampunk your own gear. It gives you a list of material, a detailed process, good and creative guidelines along with plenty of pictures and resources.
It’s my goal to actually do this over the July 4th weekend [2010] and post my result. Lets hope for the best!
To give you an idea of the scope of project considering the following list of materials and tools. If it fits into your abilities, then give it a shot!

I have been a fan of USB Steampunk products for a long time. I’ve even thought about running a Steampunk contest for the most creative, but never gotten around to it. Today, I’ve come across another great creation which is 100% hand made.
The construction is similar to other Steampunk products we’ve seen, made of brass, copper, glass, watch parts and clock parts. The metal connections from the brass wire outside are made with silver solder and an acetylene torch, which gives it the unique look and feel. In addition, the maker, put extra time into the fitting and position of the internal components for a solid product.
The Steampunk device is an 8GB flash drive with a microSD card reader at the tail end, which is a nice twist for someone looking for more storage. The technology is made of disassembled retail product where the microSD card reader is built into the flash drive. Clearly the device will show two drive letters when connected to the computer, one for the USB stick and the other for the card reader.
The price is much higher at $195 then it’s retail original package [about $15], but hey, you’ll never get a great looking, hand crafted USB case like this USB Steampunk.

Back in June of 2009 I made a joke that GetUSB.info had a USB Steampunk award, now I’m seriously considering it. Especially after seeing this new rendition.
This USB steampunk drive was made by a Russian modder. He traveled to a local rag fair [I’m assuming street fair] to pick up old clock parts and gears. The guy also picked up some stock brass tubing and screw rods to build a sturdy housing. Then off the the metal shop.
The source website, EnglishRussia, has the entire tutorial on how to do this crafty artwork. It’s far more interesting than educational, so if you are curious about the

If, GetUSB.info had an award for best Steampunk drive, this would get it. Set in a nice wood case, this Steampunk USB drive is riddled with over 30 mechanical parts from six different watches. Some parts are from watches that are over 100 years old.
The 16GB hand crafted USB Steampunk also holds 26 Ruby gems which catch the light from different angles. When the stick is plugged in the standard green LED illuminates and also creates a nice look. Unfortunately no picture of it connected.
This prize winning Steampunk took nearly 12 hours to complete…and looks fantastic. What do you think?

Here is a great looking Steampunk Custom flash drive. The creator, Marcos, put a brass shell around the outside of this USB stick, then decorated the outside with miniature gears and watch components.
It appears Marcos took the USB cap and attached it to the end with some included brass gears and other Steampunk detail.
The custom flash drive uses a piston gear from the USB connector to the watch components as a representation of the power from the PC being transferred to the heart of the USB stick.
The 2GB steampunk custom flash drive is only $50, is 100% handcrafted and completely unique. There is limited stock, so if interested get on it.
The USB Steampunk can be found and purchased at Etsy.
