Designer USB flash drive pioneer Mimoco is excited to unveil its newest line of STAR WARS MIMOBOT designer flash drives. Devoted to the film that started it all – STAR WARS: Episode IV A New Hope – the latest series of classic characters immortalized as USB flash drives includes astromech droid extraordinaire R2-D2 and the shooting-impaired Stormtrooper – both back by popular demand from the original STAR WARS MIMOBOT series. Two newcomers also join the 2010 series, including that scavenger of the desert, the Jawa, and the fan selection from the first-ever STAR WARS MIMOBOT Audience Choice poll – Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi.
The completely redesigned Stormtrooper Unmasked MIMOBOT features a removable helmet revealing either Luke Skywalker or Han Solo beneath. Just as their “borrowed” uniforms provided perfect cover for the young heroes during the daring Death Star rescue, these Stormtrooper USB flash drives provide up to 16GB of “armored” protection for your digital life. Stormtrooper Unmasked MIMOBOT will be offered as a blind assortment character, with a 50% chance of uncovering either Luke or Han when the MIMOBOT helmet cap is removed.
Check out this very intertaining video:
In the beginning of July Engadget posted an article about a new release of Star Wars USB drives, not that we need more, but it was a fun little gallery – yet, not impressive enough to make you buy. Today that changed with this artist’s rendition of what he thinks a Star Wars USB drive should look like.
It should look like Luke Skywalker’s hand just got cut off.
That’s right, to gain access to your portable storage you need to sever Luke’s hand.
What’s more impressive is the detail of this home-brewed USB stick and the agony you can see in Luke’s eyes while you detach his hand just to store the latest collection of Tera Patrick photos.
No price as I don’t think these are for sale, but definitely a sweet little project for some bored teen.

We’ve got a select few readers who’ve purchased all the Mimobot Star Wars drives, and now they can expand their collection with the Han Solo Carbonite USB drive.
As SlashGear points out, Han Solo was suppose to be frozen for eternity but without encryption technology your data wont have that same possibility, so maybe it’ll escape just as Han Solo came back to life.
The creator, Jason’s Creations has just sold out…but send him an email as more will make it to market, I’m sure.
Darth Sidious is making the first appearance from the new line of Star Wars Mimobot USB drives. This is one cool looking drive too, check out the detail in the hands with blue electricity emanating from his finger tips.
The Mimobot Darth Sidious is one well designed and crafty looking gadget and will become available from Mimobot within the next couple of days.
Mimoco is on the verge of announcing another set of Star Wars Mimobot USB drives. This next line is their Series 3 and Mimoco will be announcing new drives between now and July 23rd. Mimoco is having a Star Wars Mimobot contest – you can enter here – so enter to win a free drive! I did. It’s a fun little guessing game.
The Series 2 Mimobots are still available. Maybe they aren’t as hot as we are led to believe (announcement of 2,000 available back in Nov ’07).
