Pinnacle USB TV

The Pinnacle PCTV DVB-T Flash Stick is one of the many TV receiver solutions out in the market these days. Dave Carter from Gadget Centre did a detailed review I’ll share with you. First off, the Pinnacle USB tuner is a step above the rest in that it’s true plug-n-play. There is no loading of software, simply plug in via USB and you’re set-up. This is a big bonus as taking the TV tuner from PC to PC is a snap.

The DVB-T uses a 1GB flash drive where the Pinnacle software resides along with additional storage for personal use, recording shows and other miscellaneous functions.

Since the software is pre-installed on the flash drive, the only additional step is connecting the antenna to your PC, then begin a quick channel/radio scan.

Dave reports: Previously with these types of devices there are reception issues, so we’re pleased to report no such issues with the Flash Stick. Reception is smooth, clear and consistent with only a slight delay when changing channels as the only chink.

Pinnacle DVB-T includes a full PVR style function list for time shifting, live recording, scheduling, etc. There’s also a decent, if basic, EPG (electronic program guide) allowing straight forward scheduling and scouring of the listings. Recordings can be saved in three different ways: onto your PC’s HDD, direct onto DVD or even onto the Flash Stick itself.
