Here’s a little How To for obtaining a complete 360º model of any object. Just four items are needed. 1) Free software from Institute for Robotics, Germany. 2) USB Webcam. 3) 90º angle backdrop. 4) Laser from local hardware store.

The heavy lifting is done by the free software which has an advanced algorithm that automatically puzzles together the scans made from different sides. The low tech solution is easy for anyone as you simply hold the laser and brush over the object to get the scan you need.
