Combo land-line and VoIP phone from Auvi

Voice over IP telephones are becoming popular news stories for the gadget lovers and electronic gear heads. Here is a combo telephone and VoIP phone from Auvi which auto detects which technology to use. Running from a standard land line connection of RJ-11 the PHIP65 works just like the phone your grandmother would use. In addition, if a Skype call or VoIP call comes in the PHIP65 will make the connection over IP.
What stands out for Auvi is the DECT technology used for the wireless communication between base and phone. The DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecom) doesn’t interfere with other household networks running on 2.5GHz such as Bluetooth and 802.11 Wi-Fi devices/networks.
The base station, as pictured, connects to the host computer via USB to grab the Skype list of callers. The unit expands up to 4 additional headsets with a basket full of included, cool features. If you’re in the market for a voice over IP phone, check out all the details at the Auviworld website. Prices start at about $130USD.
