40GB PhotoBank storage from SmartDisk

Written by Richard Blanchard on March 4th, 2006. Posted in Flash Storage, USB News

SmartDisk introduces their PhotoBank storage device geared specifically towards off loading images from your camera directly to storage. Photobank accepts your flash memory card and via a LCD display and touchpad you can offload or back-up 40GB worth of pictures – that’s roughly 40,000 photos (800kb per pic). PhotoBank also has a USB connection for direct to PC connection. GetUSB did not obtain the list of flash cards it will accept, but we’re thinking the big 8, at least. Product will begin shipping mid March with a retail price of $179US.
